Aceso Sphere: Core Differentiating Features

Adaptive Patient Experience

The Aceso Sphere delivers a personalized portal that travels with the patient — automatically adjusting to their care setting and clinical context. An ED patient transferred to Med/Surg continues seeing their ED experience without any manual reconfiguration. Specialty workflows like mother/baby units can serve gender-aware content automatically, ensuring every patient sees what’s relevant to them.

Intelligent Display & Glass Control

From picture-in-picture to full-screen glass modes, the Sphere gives care teams precise control over what patients see and when. Overlay notifications and content appear over live TV or when the TV is off — triggered by time, data events, or clinical workflows. Gradual dimming schedules and careboard-specific dim modes keep the environment comfortable without interrupting care.

Proactive Device Monitoring & Recovery

The Sphere doesn’t wait for problems to be reported. Bobbypin continuously monitors connected TVs for heartbeat signals and automatically reboots unresponsive devices on configurable intervals. Prober provides real-time targeted logging and reboot capability for individual devices, while centralized device management tracks MAC/IP addresses, software versions, and physical locations across the entire fleet.

Flexible Command & Control

Patients interact through whatever works best for them — pillow speaker, remote control, mobile app, voice, or adaptive devices. Care teams can remotely control channel, volume, and TV state through the portal or via out-of-band API, with no physical access required. Hidden menus and cheat codes enable advanced administrative functions that stay completely out of reach for patients.

Enterprise-Grade Configuration

Warm Mode enables fast system state transitions with CPU running and glass off, minimizing latency for high-traffic workflows. Always-On mode ensures continuous portal availability. Volume presets, privacy settings for HIPAA-sensitive content, TV-only fallback when the network is down, and granular channel management across multiple IP/RF sources give IT teams the control they need without compromising patient uptime.

Virtual Care Built In

The Sphere is a complete virtual care endpoint — no additional hardware required. Clinicians can initiate on-demand video visits, knock before entering, and go full-screen for immersive consultations. Advanced controls including PTZ camera management, creep mode, hijack, and call accept/decline give care teams full flexibility. The platform supports USB, HDMI, and IP camera inputs alongside HDMI, WebRTC, iFrame, and SIP audio/video protocols, integrating cleanly with virtually any telehealth infrastructure.

Rich Content & Media Management

The integrated Asset Manager supports add/delete, metadata display, bookmarking, trick modes, and streaming services — all with configurable sort options. An Electronic Programming Guide manages multiple channel sources from different locations and FTG providers, giving patients a familiar, TV-like experience while giving administrators full visibility and control.
